We strongly, strongly urge you to bring your laptop to this year’s conference. Two big changes are at play here. First, we are working to remodel the conference structure and the quality of the materials that you receive, and electronic transfer of information is key to this change. You will not receive stacks of handouts; you will receive a USB drive. Handouts for a some activities will be distributed at sessions when presenters have asked us to make them available. The second change is that CRL has been working to go green by reducing the amount of paper copies that we produce, and we hope that you will agree that this is a responsible direction for us to take.
All handouts we have received to date will be loaded on a USB drive you will receive when you check in at the conference. Handouts arriving at KU-CRL after today’s deadline but before Monday will be posted to the conference web site. Many are here already, so check back daily!
If you really, really need paper handouts, you should feel free to download them from this site and print them before you arrive in Lawrence.

We have enabled a few ways for you to stay plugged into the ever-growing content on the 2009 SIM Conference website and thought it would be useful to provide a list of links for those who might be interested. Once of the best ways to receive new content is through RSS feeds. For those of you who may not be using this technology yet, you might be interested in reading Amber Nutt’s introduction to RSS technology on the Stratepedia blog.

The Holiday Inn Convention Center has free internet access throughout the hotel. You do not need a password to log on.
There is a small business office area in the lobby of the hotel with two computers available for use. You may also print from there. Printouts are picked up at the front desk. There is no charge for printing (within reason).

Welcome! We have just launched the all new 2009 International SIM Conference website and we’re very excited about some new things happening at the conference this year.
The video that you see below is one that Mona and I watched last month when we took part in a global online conference. We loved this video because it captured a number of the rationales that we have been kicking around here during our SIM conference planning. We think that this will help you begin to get into our heads our reasons for remodeling this summer’s conference.
The video will take about 20 minutes of your time.
Here is a link to the ning site that contained the original video.
